Health and Safety

Health and Safety: - shots and insurance
                                 - emergency services
                                 - where NOT to go
                                 - ID to bring - passport/ other
I must always think of being safe while on this journey, making sure I have the proper shots and traveling insurance isn't enough, also knowing places and things to stay clear of and best ways to get a hold of emergency services if needed is a must

This is the page to add comments on any tips or advice to help me stay safe while out traveling, any and all help is greatly appreciated. You can always e-mail me if you would rather not make a public post at bobfnbarker81@gmail.com

*EDIT*

For Health, I will be making sure my shots are all up to date before starting the Odyssey, for that I need a travel itinerary, even a rough draft one will help in making sure I'm safe while traveling. In fact, some countries, as I've found in my research, require you to have traveler's insurance before entering.
For Safety, I have found a few good tips, like photocopying your passport and bringing along those copies while having your original locked up so it can't get stolen, or wrecked so you can't use it anymore. I've found that a lot of European countries require you register with the local Police, which would be helpful for finding the emergency numbers or locations of services while there, so I intend on following along with that as I travel.

All and all, with all the links I've posted below in the comment section and simple searches of places I plan on traveling to I've found it's quite easy to take the proper measures to look out for myself and be properly prepared.

Also, As a Canadian, this site is invaluable for all traveling preparations: http://travel.gc.ca/travelling/advisories
Other countries have their own versions of this as well so make sure to look into a similar site if you're from another country and looking to do extended traveling.

  2. here's some good links about preventing and dealing with staph infection. This one is very in depth with informing you what it is and does and how to prevent it.

  4. *UPDATE*
I've researched as much as I can for this section, but any advice is always recommended. On thing, I think it might be in one of the links, that I'll be doing is talking to a doctor about where I plan on traveling not just to make sure my shots are good but to get a list of different over the counter medicines and the other names they go by in different countries, after-all, brand names aren't always universal.

  5. As a Canadian citizen this page, the Canadian Government Travel Advisory page, is very helpful for me. It has all the information I need for places to stay clear of, Visa requirements, vaccines for that area, local laws, pretty much everything I would need to know. If you're Canadian and traveling, definitely save this page, if not then I would suggest looking up your own countries equivalent. I have found links to the US and UK citizen travel advisory pages on the flying page I posted in the 'Transit' section.
