Contacts

Contacts: - internet cafes and wifi
                  - phones - pre-paid vs monthly plan
                  - contact list - electronic and paper copy
It'll be important to keep in touch with everyone online back home as well as the ability to contact and make plans ahead of time, how to do so the cheapest will be key.

This is the page to add comments on any tips or advice to help me be able to keep communication up with everyone to keep you all updated on my travels as well as be able to lay out plans for places to go, people to meet etc, Any and all help is greatly appreciated. You can always e-mail me if you would rather not make a public post at bobfnbarker81@gmail.com

*EDIT*

I still have a bit more to look into for comparing getting a SIM card for Europe or Asia versus just using hotspots and wifi but right now this doesn't seem to be much of a problem. One thing to add is it's good to know where the local library is, if applicable, as not only do they usually have a public use computer but also usually have clean bathrooms. Of course not every place in the world that is true and not every place in the world is going to have free wifi at the corner coffee shop. I've heard you can get a cheap phone that works all over Europe and one that works all over Asia, I'll look more into it more and let you all know what I find. feel free to send and links or advice my way!

  1. *UPDATE*
I'll always be on the lookout for free wifi when I'm traveling and backing up my contact list just seems like the smart thing to do. My key interest here is having a cell phone. It seems now a days roaming is becoming more common and I'm sure I'll be able to make up some sort of plan with my provider, but if there's a particular company that specializes in travel plans or if grabbing a pre-paid from place to place is better then switching phones may be in order. any advise or recommendations are welcomed.

  2. this is the most extensive site on pre-paid SIM cards I've found. I've been reading through it for a while and I have a lot to go through still. if you're traveling, check it out!
