Eating

Eating: - eating in vs eating out
              - shopping at markets or stores
The difference between eating out and buying from markets to make your own meals will greatly affect my budget, the farther a dollar can go for feeding me, while still staying healthy, the better. tips on this would really help.

This is the page to add comments on any tips or advice to help me find cheap, and preferably healthy, places to eat while out traveling, any and all help is greatly appreciated. You can always e-mail me if you would rather not make a public post at bobfnbarker81@gmail.com

*EDIT*

I made a post in the comment section a while back about not really knowing until I get to the area and after a year of the few trips I've had that's pretty much correct. I've found that if you're staying at a hostel or hotel they both are knowledgeable of what's around them so always ask when you check in. Also, once again, Google maps helps finding grocery stores near by the address, this feature really helped me when I traveled around in USA. I find the most important thing to finding cheap places to eat to or buy food is factoring in time to get to know the area. I did this in Tokyo and found a few cheap places to grab food. There's all kinds of tips out there online for eating cheap such as buying a bag or rice and a bag of beans if you have the facilities to cook or cheap canned food, such as tuna, if you don't. In the end I like looking for the local grocery store to find deals on cheap food as opposed to eating out all the time, although I hear South West Asia is cheap enough that eating out may even be the deal at times. Time will tell.

  1. *UPDATE*
This section is going to need a bit of researching and really I think I still won't know where's good and cheap to eat until I'm actually in the town. I think the more important thing is to be aware of where NOT to eat, so I don't get sick, would hate to ruin a few days or more because bad eating choices. I'm still happy to get any advice but as far and researching this section is really not an issue until I'm ready to travel.
